Crypto Elite Shift from NFTs to Ultra-Rare Tangible Assets with Dinosaur Fossil Purchase
Wintermute co-founder Yoann Turpin and a consortium of crypto investors have acquired a 69-million-year-old triceratops fossil, marking a notable pivot from digital collectibles to ultra-scarce physical assets. The fossil, one of only 24 known specimens, now resides in Singapore's Le Freeport, a high-security vault owned by crypto billionaire Jihan Wu.
The facility, often dubbed 'Asia's Fort Knox,' also houses tokenized Gold bars, fine art, rare wines, and hard drives storing hundreds of millions in digital assets. Turpin described the acquisition as a blend of passion and prestige, reflecting a broader trend among crypto's wealthy to diversify into tangible, historically significant holdings.
While some investors chase prestige collectibles, others are advancing regulated stablecoin projects in Malaysia, highlighting the divergent strategies within the crypto ecosystem.
